Recent ActivityWelcome to Mrs. Joswick’s class! We are a great class of 24 students who are all eager to learn. Maintaining a positive attitude and always trying our very best is important to us. We set goals and work hard to achieve those goals.
I have been teaching at LRES for thirteen years. My degree in elementary education is from the University of Virginia. Currently I am team teaching with Mrs. Maddox and Miss Northup. Together we teach all of the fifth grade students. I will be teaching math and language arts. Mrs. Maddox teaches language arts and social studies, and Miss Northup teaches language arts and science. We make a great team! We feel this method of teaching enables our students to be ready to handle the demands of middle school when they leave us.

Class Announcements Newseum Update"Geology Rocks!"We have been hard at work in science studying the layers of the earth, discussing the differences between weathering and erosion, and we have begun our discussion of the 3 types of rocks found in the earth's crust! If you have any rocks or fossils at home you wouldn't mind sharing with the class, we would be delighted to observe them during science this week and next week!
Ask your child to describe the layers of the earth (depth, temperature, etc.) and explain the difference between weathering and erosion and what we as humans can do to stop erosion from happening. They should also be able to explain characteristics of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. We are going to be talking about the rock cycle next. More to come! |
